Background

Usana was founded under the direction of Dr. Myron
Wentz, an internationally recognised pioneer in the
development of the human cell culture technology and
disease diagnosis.

Dr Wentz earned his Ph.D.'s in Microbiology and
Immunology.

In 1973 he founded Gull Laboratories.

Gull lab was launched in September 1974.

Dr Wentz and Gull Labs developed the first commercially
available test kit for the diagnosis of Epstein-Barr virus
which are being used by 152 hospitals in 35 countries.

Gull is one of America's first human cell culture
laboratories licensed by the FDA to develop, manufacture
and distribute test kits to the medical community to
identify infectious and viral diseases.

These Kits are distributed worldwide, with Gull holding
over 50% of the world market.

Gull successfully grows billions of cells for this purpose
and over the years they have learned how to nutrient them
for optimal health.

Gull still has its original "start up" human cells that are
now over 40 years old! With proper daily supplies of
complete and balance range of nutrients

Due to degenerative diseases, both of Dr. Wentz's
parents died prematurely. In 1990 Dr. Wentz became
concerned about his own health and decided to start
nutritional supplementation.

He requested a "good" supplementation from one of his
pharmaceutical friends and was recommended a product
to use that was considered as the "very best". When he
read the content label he became very concerned about
it's performance and effects as he determined its
formulation would not sustain the cell in his lab.

Through analytical testing, Dr Wentz discovered that many
nutritional and health supplements were not only
nutritionally unbalanced but also had incorrect and
misleading labels and occasionally contained toxic
substances.

USANA Health Sciences was launched in the summer of
1992. Dr Wentz's objective in forming USANA was to
develop a line of nutritional products with a new approach
to manufacturing that would ensure the highest quality
products at a price that would make them available to
large portion of the population.
